Pos Indonesia Office Service

The organization’s beginnings can be traced back to 1746 when General G.W. Baron van Imhoff opened the first post office in Batavia, which is now Jakarta. His goal was to protect letters, especially for people travelling between Indonesia and the Netherlands and trading outside of Java. The establishment of a second post office in Semarang four years later to improve connectivity and expedite deliveries along routes through Karawang, Cirebon, and Pekalongan exemplifies this mission of serving the public over centuries.

The organization has transformed many times, beginning as PTT to reflect its diverse functions. In 1965, they became PN Pos dan Giro to keep up with rapid service growth. In 1978, they became Perum Pos dan Giro, handling both domestic and international postal services. After seventeen years, in June 1995, they adopted a new structure and became Perseroan Terbatas. These transformations reflect their adaptation to industry changes and commitment to modernizing operations. They continue to evolve, aligning with technological advancements and expanding their service offerings.

The organization currently utilizes an extensive infrastructure, including approximately 24,000 service points across Indonesia. They reach every city, district, and many sub-districts and remote villages with their network. Over 3,800 online post offices and electric mobile services form a reliable operational chain. They introduced a postal code system, improving delivery precision across all regions of the country. This system allows them to accurately identify and serve each area within Indonesia. Their infrastructure and technology ensure effective and precise service nationwide.

The organization maintains its commitment to connecting people and facilitating communication throughout Indonesia and beyond through ongoing innovation and technological advancements. Its unwavering commitment to meeting the requirements of its domestic and international customers is reflected in its long history and ever-evolving structure.
